Description
Acid in Diesel Emulsifying/Retarding Agent
Introduction
acid retarding agent used for making emulsified/Retarded acid for oil well stimulation. prepares a micro-emulsion of acid internal and oil external emulsions with kerosene, crude oil, or diesel which allows the acid to penetrate deeper into the formation and therefore increases the performance of the acid.
Applications
effective in both inorganic (HCl, HF, Acetic Acid) and organic acids. This chemical is mainly used for making emulsified acid which has a lower reaction rate compared to regular acid with carbonate formations during acidizing. HCl reacts with calcite at a very fast rate, therefore in the absence of an acid retarder, the acid will be spent on the formation surfaces and therefore formation permeability will decline. Retarding the reaction rate of the acid with the formation by encapsulating it inside hydrocarbons using allows the acid to penetrate deeper into the damaged zone.
Benefits
- prevents face dissolution or surface washout by preventing the acid from reacting with carbonate rocks
- assists the penetration of the acid into the damaged zones to enhance the formation permeability
- allows the acid to penetrate deeper into the formation by creating wormholes and enhancing well productivity
- compatible with other acidizing agents
Dosage
An stable acid-in-diesel emulsion (70% HCl : 30% Diesel) can be prepared by using 1.0 w/w%. The prepared retarded acid is stable for more than 6 hours at 200 oF
