Description
Hydrogen Sulfide Scavenger
Introduction
hydrogen sulfide scavenger specifically formulated to control the amount of H2S in well stimulation processes. H2S impairs the formation permeability by creating precipitations that plug the pore throats. Therefore, removal of H2S content from formation is a necessity. favorably reacts with H2S gas to eliminate it and produce environmental friendly products.
Applications
H2S is a weak acid and when it reacts with steels in wells and tubing, it causes pitting and stress crack corrosion as well as deposition of iron sulfide (FeS) scales. During acid treatments, iron from tubular scales and corrosion contaminates the acid and as the acid is spent in the formation, iron sulfide precipitates as the pH rises to approximately 2-3. Another problem that can arise following a large acid treatment is sulfur plugging. Also, Ferric iron contamination from surface tanks and pumping equipment can lead to the formation of a fine precipitate of elemental sulfur when exposed to H2S. Therefore, using an H2S scavenger such as is a highly recommended in the acid stimulation of sour wells.
Benefits
- reduces the H2S level to less than 1 ppm (Efficiency > 95%)
- allows controlling the toxic and corrosive effects of H2S much more effectively than available H2S scavengers in the market
- allows the operators to safely remove large amounts of fouling deposits
- allows the acid to suppress the formation of FeS scales
