The drilling mud system performs several important functions for oil and gas well drilling.
including removal of drill cuttings, creation of mud cake and temporary walling, preventing the
entry and migration of mud fluids into the formation, creating appropriate weight to the inner
wall of the hole while maintaining appropriate hydrostatic pressures, and also lubrication of
drilling tools.
